  6. hey vijay,
thanks for the lyrics. The english translation is a great effort. But nothing like being able to understand the original which thankfully I do.What really strikes me about the song is the expression that lies behind the line "kurai ondrum illai"...its like monalisa's smile. Check out amma herself singing it. This video never fails to bring tears into my eyes.

    1. This is an ardent devotee of Lord Venkatewara! My devotion cannot be expressed in words.I say Venkatesa suprabatham from June 13th 1969!!!!I also say other songs of the Lord.Another of my favourite one is "Govinda Namavali"I will not be able to say the feelings I go through when I recite this. But when my daughter (who again is another crazy devotee of the Lord)sent me this song sung by MS,I realised this was more emotional than anything in the world. I know it is quite late that I came to know the lyrics but as they say "better late than never".And can you believe when I first heard the song 15 days ago tears wouldn't stop and I could see myself non stop sobbing! From then on I never stopped singing (actually reciting) the song so many times and everytime tears flowing non stop!!!!!Such is the power of the lyrics, especially if you have experienced connectivity with Lord Venkatewara!!!!!!!BTW,I noticed I am replying to Skanda's mom,and I am Skanda's grandma!!!!!!

  21. Hi: I have tried to get the meaning from some of my tamil friends, they did not have a clue. They also behaved like it is nothing great and appeared disgusted to my dismay. But then I can understand, educated does not mean learned. Also, there is a prejudice against Mrs. Subbulakshmi, my favorite by the way, which makes some act strange.

ALL I WANTED TO SAY WAS THANKS FOR TAKING TIME TO POST THE MEANING.

You are blessed to translate it, I am blessed to understand it.I am a malayalee , I thought the composer complains to Krishna that "I have no "kurai"(deficiency) as I have enough poverty, illness, enemity etc".My imagination further lead me to more expansions like"No,no,don't give me more troubles,I am having enough of them"!
Thank you Sir, your precious translation prevented my wild guesses! Thanks a lot!

  54. Thank you for this. I have used yours and a few other translations online to come up with this

    Nothing is lacking, wise Krishna
    I have no problems, Govinda

Unseen by the eye you are standing, Kanna
But though I cannot see you,
I do not feel your absence, knowledgeable Krishna

You give me all I need Lord Venkatesha
I want nothing more, Lord of the veda
Manivanna (lord of gems), Malayappa (lord of the hills),
    Govinda (friend of cows), Govinda

Behind the curtain you stand, Kanna
Through the screen only the learned can see you
Still I have no objection Kanna

On top of a hill like a stone you stand, giver of boons
No complaint have I dear lord of wisdom
    Manivanna , Malayappa, Govinda, Govinda

For this Kaliyuga you have descended into a stone
And stand as an idol in a temple, Kesava
But I have no worries, wise Kanna

Nobody can forget, Malayappa, within your chest
To give anything is standing, an ocean of mercy, mother,
Lasting forever, what more can I want

No grievance have I, Marai Moorthy Kanna
    Manivanna , Malayappa, Govinda, Govinda

    Lives in your heart,
    Nothing is a problem

  66. Dear Vijay Ganesh Subramanian, I am Prakasha, from Mysore city, Karnataka state. You are really doing a very good job by translating these types of songs composed by Rajaji and Sung by great souls including M.S. Subbalakshmi.I was really mesmerised by the lyrics when I first heard this song or bhajan whatever you call it a few years ago for the first time.Today morning,I was listening to this song once again by the God's grace and few lines at the end,i could not understand it properly. So I thought of searching the lyrics and translation of this song. And I found your Blog. Ganesh, you are really a blessed soul and that's why you are doing this type of job. You are like a light. And inturn lightening up the whole world. At this moment,I am remembering one hindi song sung by Mukesh - Joth se joth jagathe chalo..... I think in the same way you are also lightening up this world in one way or other.Today only I came to know about your website/ blog and I don't know much about you and your works. But I can straight away tell you that you are a blessed soul & you are doing a great job. Please continue..... At the same time, whenever you are free, you please mail me These types of songs whether it is in any language either in tamil or telugu etc.,along with its meanings. One more my personal request for you is that you please send the song or bhajan lyrics in English only. Because I am still learning these languages.PLEASE MAIL ME AT THE EARLIEST WITHOUT FAIL.In this song, they also called GOD as MARAIMURTY KANNA.That is true because, God is sitting behind the screen and watching everyone's activity and every activity of this world. In general,he definitely knows what is happening in this world eventhough he is sitting behind the screen or sitting by closing his or her eyes. He verywell knows what to do with everyone's life based on their deeds or Karmas. In the same way, you are also sitting somewhere and you are giving life once again to people like us by your work ie., writing lyrics and translation of rare songs and bhajans and giving the same to this world through internet.
I thank you once again for your work and May GOD bless you.....
